Groundwater, Wells, and Making Sense of Water Quality Results - Montpelier & Online

Groundwater is the dominant source of drinking water for public water systems in Idaho. Knowledge of how groundwater flows to wells and the factors influencing that flow is critical to providing this valuable resource. Protecting both future water quality and quantity requires both an understanding of the potential concerns and how to respond to those concerns. This 2-hour training will review general groundwater concepts, provide an understanding of potential sources of impacts and provide a review of water quality sampling methods. This training will include a focus on how water quality results are determined from the physical characteristics measured to aid in understanding and communicating what the results mean to the customer. Included will be local examples of water quality impacts, and discussion of emerging water quality concerns including PFAS, and concerns related to rapid development.
